The Snow Cave is open on Saturdays and Sundays and public holidays in July and August. Due to favourable weather conditions, tours are also possible in September and October.

IMPORTANT! The cave is CLOSED until further notice!

Tour schedule:

July (Saturday, Sunday): 9 a.m. 11 a.m. 1 p.m. 3 p.m. 5 p.m.
August (Saturday, Sunday): 9 a.m. 11 a.m. 1 p.m. 3 p.m. 5 p.m.

Cave tours are possible only with the tour guide. For the best experience of the cave, we limited the number of visitors to a maximum of 25 persons per group. We recommend that you reach the cave at least 15 minutes before the desired tour time.

During the regular tour schedule, reservations are not required for individual visitors or small groups (up to 8 persons). For groups of more than 8 persons, advance notice is required so that we can ensure the appropriate number of guides.

For closed groups, it is also possible to visit outside the schedule by prior arrangement.

it’s good to know

Useful information about your visit to the Snow Cave – everything you need to know from A to Z.

Physical exertion

In our experience, for most visitors, the hardest part is the entrance or descent into the cave, where you will descend by 10 m on metal ladders with a fence. In total, you will descend to the Ice Hall by as much as 40 meters.

The visit to the cave takes from 1,5 to 2 hours in winter temperatures from 0 °C to 4 °C. The total route is approximately 1300 m long.

Children

We do not recommend children under the age of 5 to visit the cave. It is the parents’ responsibility to decide whether their children can handle the relatively long hike through the cold cave and steep metal ladders entering the cave.

Experience has shown that toddlers up to age 5 are usually overwhelmed. In any event, please make sure that the child is wearing sufficiently warm clothes and shoes. Remember to bring a hat and gloves.

Warm clothing and suitable footwear

A visit to the cave lasts from 1.5 to 2 hours in winter temperatures from 0 ° C to 4 ° C. Since there are possible ice patches on the walking trails we advise:

  • warm clothes (suitable for winter conditions),
  • suitable hiking shoes
  • gloves that will come in handy especially in the entrance part of the cave on metal ladders that lead you to the Ice Hall.

Duration of the tour

A guided tour of the cave takes about 1.5 to 2 hours in winter conditions.

Please note that pets are not allowed

In order to protect the fragile cave ecosystem and to make sure the pets are safe, pets are not allowed inside Snow cave.

Unfortunately, the cave is not handicapped accessible

The cave is not accessible to wheelchair users and visitors with mobility impairments.

Weather conditions

Visits to the cave are possible in any weather during the season, from June to October. The condition of the ice in the cave also depends on the weather conditions.

The ice pillars in the Ice Hall are seasonal and are formed only in favourable winter weather conditions.
